Let's embark on this journey together to give your Southernwind puppy the best start possible.
Day 1:
Arrival at Home
**Expectations:**
**Mix of Emotions:** Your new puppy is expected to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. Being separated from their littermates and mother represents a significant adjustment.
**Curiosity:** The puppy will engage in exploring its new environment, sniffing around to familiarize itself.
**Tips for a Safe Environment:**
**Make Your Home Safe for Your Puppy:** Make sure to keep hazardous items such as wires, small objects, and toxic plants out of the puppy's reach.
**Establish a Secure Area:** Arrange a comfortable space with a bed, toys, and water in a peaceful area of your home where the puppy can go to relax if they become stressed. Start the introduction to Crates, make it fun and comforting.
**Activities:**
**Family Introduction:** Allow the puppy to meet each family member individually in a peaceful manner.
**Starting Feeding:** Offer a small meal at the assigned feeding area using the same food provided by the breeder to avoid potential stomach problems. If you intend to switch the food, make sure to do it gradually by mixing the new food with the old one to prevent any adverse effects on the puppy's digestion.

**Adjusting:** Your puppy will start to get used to their new environment.
**Sleep:** Expect your puppy to sleep a lot; puppies need plenty of rest.

**Testing Boundaries:** They may begin to test boundaries and explore more.
**Physical Safety Tips:**
**Supervised Discovery:** Permit the puppy to explore additional areas of your home while being supervised.
**Chew Toys:** Offer suitable chew toys to deter them from gnawing on furniture or other household items.
