My Dog was Trained Professionally, but won't listen to me

Having a well-trained dog by a professional trainer is a great accomplishment for any dog owner. However, there are instances where a dog may not work well with its owner, despite having received professional training. This can be a frustrating and confusing situation for dog owners, who may wonder why their dog is not responding to their commands or behaving in the way they had hoped. There are several factors that may contribute to this problem, including issues with the dog's energy or changes in routine.

One potential reason why a well-trained dog may not work well with its owner is due to differences in energy. Dogs are highly sensitive to the energy of their owners, and if the owner is feeling anxious, stressed, or upset, the dog may pick up on these emotions and respond accordingly. This can lead to a breakdown in communication between the owner and the dog, even if the dog has been trained to respond to certain commands. In this case, it may be helpful for the owner to work on managing their own emotions and energy levels in order to improve their relationship with the dog.

Another potential reason why a well-trained dog may not work well with its owner is due to changes in routine. Dogs thrive on routine and structure, and any changes to their routine can be disruptive and confusing. For example, if a dog is used to being walked at a certain time every day and this routine suddenly changes, the dog may become anxious or stressed and may not respond as well to commands or training. In this case, it may be helpful for the owner to establish a consistent routine for the dog and to make any changes gradually and with care.

It is also possible that there may be underlying health or behavioral issues that are affecting the dog's ability to work well with its owner, despite having received professional training. In this case, it may be helpful to consult with a veterinarian or animal behaviorist in order to identify and address any underlying issues that may be contributing to the problem.

In conclusion, while having a well-trained dog by a professional trainer is a great accomplishment, it is important to remember that there may be factors that can affect the dog's ability to work well with its owner. Issues with energy or changes in routine can be disruptive and confusing for dogs, and it is important for owners to work on managing their own emotions and establishing consistent routines for their dogs. In some cases, there may be underlying health or behavioral issues that may need to be addressed with the help of a veterinarian or animal behaviorist. By taking these steps, owners can improve their relationship with their dogs and ensure that their dogs are able to respond well to commands and training.
